Amended Bicycle Parking Code Up for Public Comment

An amended code for bicycle parking was approved for a 30-day public comment period on Thursday, Jan. 26.

The code would establish standards for bike racks and, as amended, no longer includes a provision to require bicycle racks for modified site plans. Bike racks would only be required for new construction, as is the case under existing City code.

The code would also establish a waiver process, enabling developers to seek relief from its provisions based on one or more factors including the planned use of building and its location, thereby reducing variance fees and speeding up the approval process for developers. The proposed code can reviewed here.

Public comments can be submitted to or in-person at City Hall. For more information, call the Community Development Department at (520) 417-4413.
